Transforming
Lives

Casowasco is one of five camp and retreat centers owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Camp & Retreat Ministries is led by staff and volunteers, supervised locally by the site director, and overseen by the Upper New York Conference and the Committee on Camp & Retreat Ministries.

Our Mission & Vision

We are committed to carrying out our mission by providing…

  • Radical Hospitality: As Christ welcomed outsiders, we set a place at the table for everyone to feel heard, valued, and at home.
  • Sacred Sanctuary: As Christ created space for trust and healing, we make Casowasco a natural sanctuary for every person.
  • Equipping for the journey: As Christ taught us a new way of living in the world, Casowasco equips people to help be change agents in the world.

Providing a sacred space for life-changing experiences, nurturing Christian community and a deeper knowledge of our natural world.

John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living. They placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today. We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.

A History of
Life-changing Ministry

Casowasco was purchased by the Central New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church (now the Upper New York Annual Conference) in 1946, for a fraction of the asking price, the Case family property fulfilled the dream of a place where lives could be changed.
