Transforming
Lives

Casowasco is one of five camp and retreat centers owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Camp & Retreat Ministries is led by staff and volunteers, supervised locally by the site director, and overseen by the Upper New York Conference and the Committee on Camp & Retreat Ministries.

Our Mission & Beliefs

Growing in our relationship with God,
Being the body of Christ within the world, and
Living in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ by:

  • Engaging, equipping and empowering local churches to be in ministry with and to our Global Neighborhood;
  • Encouraging and developing leadership within the laity and clergy that is diverse yet united by our love for Christ; and
  • Building relationships with our neighbors, particularly with those who have been disenfranchised by mainstream society.

To live the gospel of Jesus Christ and to be God’s love with our neighbors in all places.

John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living. They placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today. We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.

A History of
Life-changing Ministry

Casowasco was purchased by the Central New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church (now the Upper New York Annual Conference) in 1946, for a fraction of the asking price, the Case family property fulfilled the dream of a place where lives could be changed.
