Casowasco Camp Clean-up Week+

Casowasco is preparing for re-opening April 1st, but to get there we need to call on interested volunteers! Come for a day, a night or several days during Clean-up Week: March 20-29, 2026. We have free beds available for those who want to stay for more than a day. And we can arrange for meals for registered participants (a goodwill offering will be accepted). Be the first to sample our exclusive catering chef’s culinary delights (stay tuned for more information on this exciting new addition)! Enjoy the exquisite beauty of the lake and the camp AND help spruce it up for re-opening.

Indoor Clean-up opportunities

  • Washing linens in Galilee
  • Vacuuming, mopping and shampooing floors
  • Light cleaning in bathrooms (they just need a bit of added sparkle)
  • General dusting
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Painting (a few areas need attention, particularly a cabinet in Bethany)
  • There might be some Kitchen inventory work, TBD our chef
  • Dining set-up and Kitchen clean-up during Camp Clean-up Week
  • Ongoing filing in the office
  • Got plumbing knowledge? there are a couple fixtures that need attention
  • Got tiling skills? Bethany bathrooms have a few broken tiles that need replacement
  • Got electrician skills? Bethany needs added wiring (& a circuit?) and outlets in the central meeting space
  • Got physical strength? There are several boxes that need to be moved

 Outdoor Clean-up opportunities

  • Weeding and cleaning up gardens and lawns
    • A Pollinator Garden with native plants will be added to the rose garden patio just off the parking lot near Galilee. If the weather allows there will be some concentrated work in that area. On March 26th, Janice Wiles from Go Native! will be advising us on the garden. Are you interested in a pollinator garden at your church or home or replacing lawns with native plants? You won’t want to miss this visit!
  • Changing and/or troubleshooting the light bulbs along driveway and on road-side sign (some investigation may be needed to determine why these bulbs are out)
  • Clean up the road-side sign planter box
  • Adding stair nonslip-treads where needed
  • Got carpentry skills? There are some deck planks and railings that need replacement, there are a few areas under a couple eaves that could use some work, and there’s some animal holes that could use some blocking and deterrents.
  • Exterior Painting and Staining touch ups – if the weather allows

Tools and supplies

We can provide everything that is needed for these jobs. Some supplies (paint, tiles, wood, etc.). will need to be purchased so when you register please indicate what you want to work on so we can supply appropriately. The camp has many tools, but please indicate in your registration if there’s a tool you will be bringing for the job.

Maple Sugaring!

Kathy and Colin are tapping the sugar maples along the driveway. If the weather allows, we will boil the sap sometime during Camp Clean-Up Week. This calls for 24+ hours of outdoor campfire maintenance for boiling the sap. So, ANY help will be very welcome (particularly between midnight and dawn)!

Let us know if you are coming by completing our event Google Form.
